Process for the catalytic reaction of isoolefins

Reaction mixtures of isoolefins obtained on acidic cation exchangers can be obtained by a) treating the reaction mixture obtained from the catalytic reaction with water in countercurrent in a scrubbing tower which is packed with anion exchangers in the OH form, b) separating the organic phase removed as the top stream of the scrubbing tower by distillation into the reaction products and the unreacted hydrocarbons (raffinate) and c) removing the aqueous phase from the scrubbing tower as the bottom stream. The aqueous phase removed can be fed back to the scrubbing tower again as wash water. In the case where the reaction mixture obtained from the catalytic reaction contains an unreacted alcohol, this is found in the aqueous phase of the scrubbing tower; this unreacted alcohol can be separated from the wash water by distillation and fed back again to the catalytic reaction.
