A rotary, electrically heated furnace for continuous heat treatment up to 600 deg.C of small articles at rates of 2200-2800 per hour, is claimed. Treatment time can be varied up to 6 minutes and even heating is achieved by creating turbulence through the introduction of additional air. The furnace consists of a stainless steel tube fitted with helical fins internally and inclined at 3 deg. to the horizontal. It rotates on rollers driven by a variable speed motor. Workpieces are fed and discharged through chutes. A tubular resistance heater is mounted internally and another is placed underneath the furnace which is mounted on telescopic supports. USE/ADVANTAGE - The furnace height is adjustable and it is suitable for a variety of prodn. line work.
