<p>2-(3,4-Dimethoxy phenyl) N-(2-(3,4-dimethoxy phenyl) ethyl)N-methyl 1,3-dithiano 2-amino propane 1,1,3,3-tetroxide is made by (a) reacting 4-(3,4-dimethoxy phenyl) 4-oxo butanonitrile with propylene dithio bis(tetramethyl silane) in presence of a catalyst, e.g. AlCl3 or ZnI2,in solvent e.g. THF or isopropyl ether, to form 2-(3,4-dimethoxy phenyl) 1,3-dithiano 2-cyano propane; (b) reducing this with LiAlH4 to obtain the corresp. amine; (c) N-methylating with sodium methoxide in methanol or butanol; (d) reacting with 3,4-dimethoxy phenyl acetic acid at 20-100 deg.C in presence of complex metal hydrides, e.g. NaBH4 or LiAlH4; and (e) oxidising the 1,3-dithiane gp with H2O2 and perbenzoic acid in presence of a catalyst, e.g. tungstic acid to obtain the required prod.</p> |
