In a vehicle unit for influencing trains, apart from the marking signs (MN) produced at intersection points (K1, K2) of the line (LG), the pulses of a displacement pulse sensor (WR) are also available for determining the location using a displacement sensor device (WG). The displacement measurement device (WG) is fed a correction control variable (SN or GN) after a skidding or slipping process respectively. In order to produce the correction control variables, all the pulses of the displacement pulse sensor (WR) present respectively between two chronologically adjacent marking signs (MN) of two aerials (AE1, AE2) attached one behind the other on the rail vehicle (SG) are counted and compared with a predetermined set value. <IMAGE>
