PURPOSE:To improve the adhesivity of a fiber and a chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber, remarkably, by treating a fiber with an agent obtained by reacting resorcin with an allyl halide and an alkali metal hydroxide, and reacting the reaction product with formalin. CONSTITUTION:A fiber is treated with a reaction product produced by (1) reacting 1.0mol of resorcin with <1.0mol of an allyl halide and <1.0mol of an alkali metal hydroxide, and (2) reacting the reaction product with <=0.8mol of formalin based on 1.0mol of the unreacted resorcin in the reaction product. The reaction product is mixed with an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer rubber latex or a carboxyl-modified acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer rubber latex at a weight ratio of 1.0:(1.0-2.0) (solid basis), and the fiber is treated with the mixture. |
