PURPOSE:To prevent the double skin and flash in a cast strip by arranging a projection, which is lowered gradually toward lower part, on a heat insulating layer of short side in a mold. CONSTITUTION:The short side in the mold provides metallic plate 4c arranging cooling water holes 9 on the face contacting with metallic belts 1, 2 aud also the metallic plate 4b having constant width is arranged at the lower part thereof. On the metallic plate 4c, which is adjacent place with a heat insulating layer 4a and the metallic plate 4c, the projection 4d formed as lowering gradually toward the lower part from height (h) is arranged. Next, the short side in the mold composing of the metallic plate 4c and the metallic plate 4b is supported by a back-up plate 11 to cool by the cooling water 10. The tip of solidified shell at the time of casting continuously becomes to L-shape to prevent the waving deformation of the shell 5b aud ths insertion of the molten steel 5a. Therefore, in this way, development of the double skin and flash in the cast strip is prevented. |
