PURPOSE:To easily produce a high silver chloride emulsion of normal crystal particles of fourteen-faced polyhedrons or octahedrons consisting of (111) face by forming the silver halide particles in the presence of a specific compd. CONSTITUTION:The particle formation is executed in the presence of the compd. expressed by the formula I, where X is a bivalent org. group, n is 0 or 1, R1 denotes a hydrogen atom, alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, substd. or unsubstd. alkyl group, substd. or unsubstd. aryl group, substd. or unsubstd. heterocyclic group, R2 denotes a hydroxyl group, substd. or unsubstd. alkyl group, substd. or unsubstd. aryl group, substd. or unsubstd. heterocyclic group, substd. or unsubstd. amino group, alkoxy group, aryloxy group, and Y denotes CO or SO2. The normal crystal particles or planar particles which are the high silver chloride particles of >=50mol% chloride and are the octahedrons - fourteen- faced polyhedrons having the (111) face on the outside are thereby easily selectively produced. |
