The hydraulic power booster for vehicle hydraulic braking systems has a booster piston sliding axially in the bore of a valve housing. Its boost power is transferred to a following master cylinder by a push rod. Sliding axially on the push rod is an adjuster piston forming a power producing member connected to the control slide so that activation of the adjuster piston causes the control slide to move against the brake operating force. Thus the brake booster remains active even during the brake modulation phase so that there is no noticeable free movement of the control slide otherwise causing reaction on the pedal.
