The invention relates to an illuminating device, in particular a floor lamp, having an essentially octahedral main body with three equilaterally triangular side faces which angularly enclose an equilaterally triangular base face as well as three equilaterally triangular sidewalls, which are angularly connected in each case to the lateral edges of said lateral faces and enclose an equilaterially triangular opening. At least one mount for a punctiform or linear electric light source is arranged in the interior of the main body, which interior is enclosed by the sidewalls or side faces, which are transparent to light at least in parts, and/or in the tetrahedral outer spaces which are defined by the planes of their sidewalls or their base face.
