<p>The invention relates to public works machinery. The jib of this shovel excavator, which can run on the road, comprises a lower part 3 which oscillates in a vertical plane under the action of a hydraulic jack 10 and an upper part 5 which oscillates in a vertical plane on the part 3 about a pin 4. The articulation of the jack 10 on the part 3 is arranged on the same pin 4 and placed as near as possible under the point of maximum allowance height of the shovel for travelling on a road, with the lower part 3 raised up to the vertical position or slightly beyond.
