PURPOSE:To eliminate a hand operated parking brake by forming a ratchet tooth on the side edge of a pedal step-in type brake arm and engagedly stopping at a stepped position by means of a stopping pawl, and operating said stopping pawl with a rotatable pedal to carry out its engagement and disengagement. CONSTITUTION:A ratchet tooth 7 which is engaged with a stopping pawl 22 and engagedly stops a brake arm 6 in a stepped position, is formed on the side edge of the brake arm 6 on the top end of which a pedal 3 is installed rotatably back and forth via a shaft 5. The pedal 3 is connected to a slide plate 8 provided on the side of the brake arm 6, via a connecting rod 9. When the pedal 3 is stepped in, a brake drum 19 is cramped by a band 17 through the brake arm 6 and rotary arms 10, 12 and a brake is operated. In this case, the brake can be locked with the ratchet tooth 7 and stopping pawl 22, serving also as the conventionally provided hand operated brake. |
