Split type flyweel assembly having a first flywheel (18) and a second flywheel. This flywheel assembly is provided with a damper means (24) adapted to damp vibrations with the force of a spring, and a friction damper means (60) adapted to damp vibrations with a frictional force. A pressure plate (46) is moved slidingly in the axial direction by a release lever (52) to carry out clutch engaging and disengaging operations. When the clutch is disengaged, a pressure plate (68) in the friction damper means (60) is held by the pressure plate (46) for use in pressing a clutch disc (40), to interrupt the vibrations of the second flywheel (20), whereby the occurrence of resonance is prevented. |
