PURPOSE:To obtain the title hollow yarn membrane having high permeability to high-mol.wt. components and without any safety problems as a blood plasma separation membrane by binding plural microfibrils with a second polymer, and coating the whole surface with the polymer to obtain a three-dimensional network structure as a whole. CONSTITUTION:High-density polyethylene, etc., are spun into hollow yarn, cold- drawn, hot-drawn, and thermoset to obtain a porous hollow yarn precursor having strip-shaped holes due to microfibrils and stacked lamellae by a drawing and hole-making method. The precursor is dipped in a soln. obtained by heating and dissolving a linear polymer such as an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer in an aq. ethanol soln., and then dried. Consequently, from several to several tens microfibrils re bound by the second polymer such as the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer to form a hand drum-shaped circular cylinder, the pore is in the form of an ellipse with increased pore width, and a network porous hollow yarn membrane having a uniform network structure as a whole is obtained. |
