The invention relates to a wiper arm, the attachment point (10) of which has a cutout (60) which with respect to the swivelling axis (15) extends beyond the dead-centre line of the contact-pressure spring element, between attachment part (10) and hinged part (20), and ends at a lateral distance (a) next to a shackle (50) by means of which the spring element is coupled to the attachment part (10). Because of the cutout (60) the wiper arm has a clearance into which the shackle (50), which guides the spring element, when the hinged part moves into the folded-down position, can dip to such an extent that the line of action of the spring element clearly exceeds the dead centre with respect to the swivelling axis (15), so that in the folded-down position the hinged part (20) cannot be pulled by the action of the spring element unintentionally in the direction of the glass to be cleaned. Since the cutout (60) prevents the swivelling axis (15) from lying in the range of movement of the shackle (50), said shackle can be designed to be completely straight, as a result of which a low overall height of the wiper arm can be obtained. <IMAGE>
