The method includes the steps of: indexing each of the plurality of A-rings (108) to a predetermined position; sensing the position of the plurality of A-rings (108) relative to the predetermined position during indexing; stripping and applying the first of the plurality of A-rings (108) to a first hub (107) carried by the hub carrier and placement tool (116); positioning a flexible recording disc (110) on an A-ring assembly substation (54); signalling the completion of the stripping and application of the first of the plurality of A-rings (108) to the first hub (107); moving the hub carrier and placement tool (116) with the first hub (107)/A-ring (108) thereon to the flexible recording disc (110) on the A-ring assembly substation (54); and adhering the first hub (107)/A-ring (108) from the hub carrier and placement tool (116) onto the flexible recording disc (110).
