PURPOSE:To facilitate controlling and reduce an external driving force by providing a gas space having a smaller diameter than that of a displacer coaxially with said displacer in a free piston type Stirling engine in which said displacer is driven by a mechanism such as a crank mechanism, etc. CONSTITUTION:A displacer 7 is connected to a power piston 13 through a high temp. space 11, a heater 8, a regenerator 9, a cooler 10, and a low temp. space 12. A load 14 of a compressor, etc. is connected to the power piston 13. The displacer 7 is connected to a crank shaft 4 by means of a displacer rod 6 and a connecting rod 5. When a starter winding 2 is electrified, and crank shaft, together with a rotor 3, is rotated causing the displacer 7 to reciprocate to start an engine. A gas space having a smaller diameter than that of the displacer 7 is provided on the lower part of the displacer 7, and part of an operating gas is introduced into the space to form a spring chamber. |
