<p>PURPOSE:To make the toe adjustment and turning angle adjustment after the vehicle completion unnecessary by holding a steering mechanism at the neutral position and adjusting it before assembling a suspension sub-assembly mounted with the steering mechanism to a vehicle body. CONSTITUTION:First, a sub-frame (h) is positioned at a fixed position by a clamping means 3, and a suspension component member A is held by a simulating means. Next, the socket 8a of a steering positioning means 8 is coupled with a pinion shaft (k), and this shaft (k) is rotated in one direction until it is locked. Then, the shaft (k) is rotated in the other direction from this position until it is locked, the rotation angle is detected by a detector (c), the shaft (k) is reversed from the other lock position by one half of this rotation angle, and a steering mechanism is held at the neutral position. Next, toes of the right and left wheels are detected by a toe detecting means 6, and a tie rod is operated so that the toes become equal. Then, the sub-assembly A is fitted to a vehicle body.</p> |
