PURPOSE:To enable reliable confirmation of ignition of a burner to be detected, by a method wherein the shape of the end part of a black shirt is detected by means of luminance of each of plural sections, into which a flame area formed by an ignition identification object burner in a furnace is divided by an image sensor, and the result is compared with the previously detected shape of the end part of a black skirt formed during ignition to identify ignition from a failure in ignition. CONSTITUTION:Flame in a furnace is inputted to an image sensor 4 through a lens 1a, an image fiber 3, and a lens 1b. Based on a luminance level signal, obtained as an output from an image sensor 4 and divided into 50X50=2,500 points (pixels) per screen, picture is processed to accurately identify the presence of flame. Namely, the shape of the end part of a black skirt formed at the unburning part of a burner is compared with the peviously detected shape of the end part formed during ignition to identify the ignition success from a failure. |
