PURPOSE:To reduce the number of nozzles and to smoothly change rolls by movably installing an injection nozzle having a turning mechanism and selectively grinding both a work roll and a backup roll by use of one nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 4 is movably put on a beam 2 spanned between roll housings and the carriage 4 is provided with a grinding nozzle 7 having a nozzle turning mechanism 5 and a nozzle rotating mechanism 6. For grinding of a work roll 3W, the nozzle 7 is downward directed through the mechanism 6 and injects high pressure water and abrasives to perform the grinding. For grinding of an upward positioned backup roll 3B, the nozzle 7 is rotated by 180 deg. through the mechanism 6 to direct toward a chain line 72. As for a roll change, the nozzle 7 is retreated under the beam 2 through the mechanism 5, so that the roll change is smoothly performed. |
