The invention relates to a process for manufacturing polymer optical fibres consisting of a core made of polymer material and of a cladding made of polymer material, characterised in that it includes at least the following successive steps: a. a core rod made of polymer material is fabricated; b. the rod thus fabricated is coated with a precladding prepolymer and polymerisation is carried out in order to obtain a preclad core bar or partial preform 11; c. the partial preform is drawn into a fibre; d. the preclad fibre 13 thus obtained is coated with a buffer.
