The invention relates to a set of volumetric machines which operate as a motor (hydraulic turbine) or as a receiver (pump, compressor) and which convey a compressible or incompressible fluid. The invention is characterised by the use of components in uniform rotational movement with respect to a stator 17. The flow is created by the displacement of booms 4 of the rotor 1 and of disks 5 fitted with windows 6 allowing the booms to pass, sealing is provided at the head of the booms by the stator. The velocity of the fluid is locally substantially perpendicular to the direction of displacement of the booms. The invention applies to all volumetric machines but, taking account of its specific characteristics, may be used in fields which until present had been reserved for turbine machines, for example compressors. <IMAGE>
