PURPOSE:To retain catalyst carriers accurately by inserting spacers constituted with solids to be changeable to fluids between a plurarity of catalyst carriers, putting catalyst carriers and spacers in castings and fixing them through cushions. CONSTITUTION:Cushions 8 and gaskets 9 are wound around the outer periphery of catalysts 7, 7 and engaging rings 10 engaged with said periphery. Between said catalyst carriers 7, 7, as an example, ice rings 13 are put in as spacers, the whole of which are put in between shells 2. 2, and both of the flanges are welded, joints 14, 14 being welded to both ends. During or after welding flanges and joints 14, ice is melted and flows out through gas passages in catalyst carriers, not leaving any trace inside. |
