The originality of the speculum to which the invention relates, lies in the fact that the valves of which it is made up are widely open-worked, so as to allow observation and possible treatment of the vaginal walls which are no longer hidden by the valves which hold them apart. A plastic covering could even allow electrical treatments of the mucosa. The specula which have hitherto been proposed would hide the surfaces which they are holding apart by their valves. The advantage of this speculum is particularly noticeable for diagnosis and treatment of vaginal condylomas (warts). <IMAGE>
