PURPOSE:To attain the structure of a magnetic head which is superior in electromagnetic conversion characteristic and has a high reliability by forming a sharp edge corners on the magnetic recording medium counter face of a center track and rounding off edge corners of sliders. CONSTITUTION:A core 2 having a winding groove 2a is joined to the end part in the magnetic recording medium exit side of a center track 4 between slider parts 3 and 3, which are formed on both sides of the magnetic recording medium counter face of a core 1, by a glass 5 to form a gap part G. Thereafter, slider parts 3 and 3 are machined to a prescribed width W, and a track width Tw of the center track 4 is worked to a value larger than prescribed last finished dimensions, and edge corners 3a and 4a of slider parts 3 and 3 and the center track 4 are rounded off, and the center track is machined to finish the track width Tw to prescribed dimensions.
