PURPOSE:To selectively remove copper from a soln. contg. a large amt. of copper by using an ion-exchange resin contg. an iodide ion insolubilized in water. CONSTITUTION:A fixed amt. of a strongly basic anion-exchange resin is dipped in a soln. of potassium iodide, and agitated to prepare an ion-exchange resin contg. an iodide ion. After the resin is washed, the water is removed. The dried I-type ion-exchange resin is added to a copper soln. and agitated, and copper can be selectively removed from the soln. Since the iodide ion can be thus trapped into the resin in an insoluble state, the resin can be sufficiently cleaned by distilled water, and the components to be analyzed are never mixed into the resin. Furthermore, since the reaction occurs on the surface of the resin, copper can be removed only by separating the resin and the soln.
