PURPOSE:To produce crystalline fine gold particles having a narrow dispersed particle size distribution when an aqueous soln. of chloroauric acid is reduced to produce gold particles, by reducing the soln. at a specified reaction temp. with a reducing gas under a specified partial pressure. CONSTITUTION:When an aqueous soln. of chloroauric acid is reduced to produce gold particles, fine gold particles are formed by reducing the soln. at high temp. and pressure. The reaction temp. is regulated to 100-200 deg.C and a reducing gas used is kept under 1-10kg/cm<2> partial pressure. Gaseous H2, CO or SO2 is used as the reducing gas.
