PURPOSE:To allow a dephosphorization reaction to proceed efficiently while inhibiting the progress of decarburization in a dephosphorization period by making the feed rate of oxygen in the first half of the dephosphorization period lower than that in the latter half. CONSTITUTION:When desiliconized molten pig iron is dephosphorized, oxygen is fed at <=0.70Nm<3>/t.min rate V1 in the first half of the dephosphorization period and at >=0.35Nm<3>/t.min rate V2 in the latter half, and the rate V1 is made lower than the rate V2 (V1<V2). Oxygen is fed by the necessary amount in the first half, so a dephosphorization reaction proceeds without hindrance. Since excess oxygen is not fed, the oxidation of C and Mn in the molten pig iron is inhibited. In the latter half, fed oxygen is consumed in a dephosphorization reaction without waste.
