PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound having excellent cleaning and dispersing property and emulsification resistance and useful as a multi-functional additive for fuel oil or lubrication oil, with a simple procedure, by reacting a boronizing agent with a radical reaction product of a nitrogen-containing compound having a specific structural formula and an alpha-olefin. CONSTITUTION:1mol of (A) a nitrogen-containing compound of formula (R1-R4 are H, amino, OH or 1-45C hydrocarbon group wherein 1-10 carbon atoms are optionally substituted with N or O atoms; R1 and R2 or R1 and R3 may together form a ring) is made to react as a telogen with 0.1-20mol of (B) an alpha-olefin of formula R5-CH=CH2 (R5 is H or 1-28C alkyl) as a taxogen under a radical-generating condition. The obtained reaction product is made to react with a boronizing agent (e.g. orthoboric acid) at 50-250 deg.C to obtain the objective compound having an average molecular weight of >=300, a nitrogen content of 0.1-10wt% and a boron content of 0.05-7.0wt%. |
