The device is characterised in that it is constituted by a support with absorbent and neutral properties with respect to the essential product, such as a strip 7 of paper or cardboard, the said support being inserted in a hermetic envelope constituted by a sachet 1 whose walls 3, 3', which are welded together, are constituted by a combination of a layer of synthetic material and a sheet of metal, and the sachet 1 is preferably welded along its marginal edges 4, 4' and 5 on three sides while on a fourth edge corresponding to a small side of the rectangle, the line of welding 6 is located at a certain distance from the edges leaving the two walls forming lips 2, 2' separated and free to allow, by manually pulling on the two lips, the tearing of this fourth weld 6 and the opening of the sachet in use in order to withdraw the "swab" from it. <IMAGE>
