PURPOSE:To make it possible to eliminate a conventional polishing process step for a rubber layer, by vulcanizing a core bar coated thereon with raw rubber materials and inserted in a cylindrical die so that the shape or condition of the inner surface of the cylindrical die is transferred to the surface of a rubber layer formed after the vulcanization. CONSTITUTION:A core bar coated thereon with raw rubber materials is inserted directly into a cylindrical die 6 which is connected to the outlet port of a cross- head extruder 5 by means of a claw chuck. When a raw rubber material 7 and a core bar 8 are fed into the extruder 6 through the supply port of the latter, respectively, the core bar 8 coated thereon with the rubber material is extruded therefrom, and directly introduced into the die. The cylindrical die 6 may be formed from a pipe made of metal such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel or the like and having an inner shape which may give a predetermined shape and a predetermined thickness corresponding to a roller provided with a rubber layer, to the rubber layer after vulcanization.
