PURPOSE:To accelerate printing speed by either separating two or more non- printing space type groups and printing type groups or arranging at least two or more non-printing type groups and printing type groups alternately. CONSTITUTION:A type belt 14 has 64 positions in a single round of rotation and these positions are divided into the I group and the II group. The A type provides a space (represented by a symbol ... 'U') from positions 0 to 10, symbol types from positions 11 to 21 and numerical types from positions 22 to 31. The B type provides a space from positions 0 to 20 but at every other position, symbol types in odd-number digits from positions 11 to 20 and numerical types from positions 22 to 31 which constitute the I group with the II group aligned in the same pattern as the I group. When printing up to the digit halfway is requested, the space types of remaining digits are selected in a shortest time due to such type arrangements.
