PURPOSE: To prevent the seizing of the sliding part of a fuel injection pump by providing a fuel level detector for detecting the fuel level in a fuel tank and automatically decelerating the engine speed of an engine under a specified condition of said fuel level. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection pump 15 is driven being interlocked with the rotation of an engine 13. Fuel in a fuel tank 23 is sent by pressure into the combustion chamber of the engine due to the drive of the fuel injection pump 15. The fuel level in the fuel tank 23 is detected by a fuel level detector 48. And, the engine speed of the engine 13 is automatically decelerated in a condition that the fuel level becomes below a defined level. The idle rotating speed and the idle rotating time of the fuel injection pump 15 which is idly rotated in a condition of no fuel can also be restrained low. Thereby, the seizing of the sliding part of the fuel injection pump 15 can be prevented.
