PURPOSE:To obtain an optical data bus type network which is inexpensive and excellent in extension by linking a waveform converter to one optical fiber cable and transmitting and receiving optical data with simple facilities. CONSTITUTION:The data converted from a transmitter of either of terminal equipment 2a-2c to the optical signal of a wavelength lambda1 are transmitted through either of light branching devices 11a-11c to an optical fiber cable 9. The transmitting data propagate the internal part of the optical fiber cable 9 from the left direction to the right direction and proceed in the direction shown in an arrow P1 by the light branching device 11 and arrives at a wavelength converter 10. Here, the light signal of a wavelength lambda1 to arrive at the wavelength converter 10 is converted to the light signal of a wavelength lambda2. The light signal of the converted wavelegth lambda2 proceeds in the direction shown in an arrow P2, and is propagated through the light branching device 11 in the optical fiber cable 9 from the right direction to the left direction opposite to the light signal of the wavelength lambda1. The light signal of the wavelength lambda2 propagated in the left direction is received by a receiver in the terminal equipment 2a-2c and the transmitting and receiving of the signal is completed. |
