PURPOSE:To enhance the wear resistance and slidability of a slide contact member, by providing a cast chill section in at least a part of a slide contract surface of a member such as a cam shaft or the like, by mixing remolten chill parts obtained by remelting the above-mentioned chill section. CONSTITUTION:In the case of a cam shaft 1 incorporated in an engine, a cast chill section 3 formed of cooled metal during casting, is provided in the outer peripheral surface (slide contact surface) of the cam nose 1a side. Further, remolten chill parts 5 are formed being dispersed in the cast chill section 3 by application of a high density energy source such as a laser or the like onto the outer surface side thereof. with this arrangement, it is possible to enhance the wear resistance and slidability of the cam nose 1a which is a slide contact member.
