NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R<1> is H, methoxy or trifluoro- methyl; R<2> and R<3> are H or methyl; R<4> is 2-5C fluorinated lower alkyl; X<-> is anion). EXAMPLE:4-Methyl-3-( 2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy )-5H-pyrido[1',2':4,5]-[1,2,4]thiadiazi no[2,3-a]benzimidazol-13-ium tetrafluoroborate. USE:Antiulcer agent. PREPARATION:A pyridine derivative of formula II {e.g. 2-[[3-methyl-4-(2,2,2- trifluoroethoxy)-2-pyridyl]methylsulf-inyl]benzimidazole} is made to react with an acid (e.g. tetrafluoroboric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc.) usually in the presence of a solvent such as methanol at a temperature between ice-cooling temperature and 60 deg.C for several minutes - 24hr.
