PURPOSE:To provide a low-toxic anti-allergic agent containing a specific benzoic acid derivative or its salt as active component, useful for the remedy of asthma and I-type allergic diseases such as allergic dermatic diseases and free from side effect. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent contains a benzoic acid derivative of formula (A is -CH2CH2- or CH=CH-) or its salt as an active component. It is already known that antihistamine and adenocortical steroid hormone, etc., are useful for the remedy of I-type allergy, however, antihistamine may cause thirst, nausea and dizziness, etc., and the long-term administration of large amount of adenocortical steroid hormone sometimes causes side effects such as lowering of resistance to infection, ulcer, etc. The compound of formula has low side effect, excellent antiallergic activity and low toxicity and can be administered over a long period. Dose: generally 0.01-300mg/kg daily.
