PURPOSE:To effectively perform the communication of a various kinds of types of data, by dividing image data, and character code data into blocks, and performing the communication. CONSTITUTION:A CPU27, at the time of judging a mode as a character input mode, inputs an area data(block area) to which a character data is inputted, and the data regarding the form of a character(the size of the character, or the arrangement of the character, etc.), in a page of manuscript. And the data is stored at a PMEM23 as a block data with an inputted data. Meanwhile, at the time of judging the mode as an image input mode, an image area separation table is generated at the PMEM23 based on an image area data sent from a reader 10 with an image data. Furthermore, a binary image, and a halftone image in the image data are divided into the blocks, and a compression processing corresponding to the halftone image, or the binary image respectively is performed. In this way, an effective data transmission can be performed.
