The invention relates to a device making it possible to use one and the same truck for two different types of handling operation. It consists of a shield 7 which is formed by three panels between which are disposed two channels 4 intended to receive the forks of the truck when the latter only transports hanging meat and is complemented by a transparent sheet of glass 3 separating the driver's part 10 from the load part and from a flap 9 intended to prevent splashes. A bow 2 prevents the hanging meat from coming into contact with the raised forks. When the forks 5 are lowered, the handling operation acts on them. It is possible to hang "short" pieces of meat from the hooks 1 and put boxed meat on the forks at the same time. <IMAGE>
