The invention relates to an operating device for electrical switching appliances having a support and having at least one key element which can move relative to the support, acts on the switching appliance and has parallel guidance between the support and the key element, and having a sprung resetting appliance for the key element. In order to design such an operating device for switching appliances such that relatively large key elements are guided precisely parallel with respect to the key stroke, even in the case of a small structural height of the operating device, it being intended at the same time that as few structural parts as possible be used, which furthermore are also intended to be capable of being produced cost-effectively, it is proposed according to the invention that a plurality of operating arms, which are arranged symmetrically at an angle with respect to one another, be mounted by means of film hinges on the support which is constructed in the form of a frame, successive operating arms in each case being connected to one another by means of a snap-action connector.
