PURPOSE:To reinforce a bonding strength and to improve a reliability by forming a camshaft through expanding a hollow shaft and connecting a cam piece and a shaft end piece, disposing electrodes on proper positions of at least one side of the shaft end piece and the camshaft, then performing an electric resistance welding of the hollow shaft and the shaft end pieces. CONSTITUTION:The cam pieces 3 and jurnal pieces 6 are inserted into prescribed positions of the hollow shaft 2, then the shaft end pieces 4, 5 are externally fitted on the hollow shaft ends. Then, it is set in a bulge die 6, in the state of die closing, the cam pieces 3, jurnal pieces 6 and shaft end pieces 4, 5 are fixed through bulging or upsetting to expand the pipe. Then, both ends of the camshaft 1 in the axial direction are set so as inserting between the electrodes 14 and 15 causing the current to flow between the electrode 14 and 15 through lead wires 12, 23 to perform the electric resistance weld of the hollow shaft 2 and the shaft end pieces 4, 5. Further, the electrodes are disposed on at least one side of the shaft end pieces 4 or 5 and the bulge part 10 adjacent to the shaft end piece causing the current to flow, the shaft end pieces may be electric- resistance-welded one side by one side or the shaft end pieces 4, 5 may be pushed by the electrodes 14, 15.
