PURPOSE:To prevent noise components from being written in a storage means by deciding a recording state at the access position of a reproducing means and controlling the storage state of the storage means according to the decision result. CONSTITUTION:A driver 6 is driven in playback mode so as to make a playback head 5 access the 1st track of a magnetic sheet. Here, when a level detecting circuit 8 detects the track being recorded yet, a memory controller 23 is so operated as to write a video signal obtained from a track being reproduced by the head 5 currently in an R memory 13, a G memory 14, and a B memory 15. When the circuit 8 detects the output of the head 5 being from an unrecorded track, the controller 23 is so operated as to erase the memories, thereby writing an entire screen black-level signal. Consequently, noise components are prevented from being written in the memories 13-15.
