USE:An intermediate for producing medicines, agricultural chemicals, etc. PREPARATION:A 2-(alpha-alkoxyimino)ethylthiophene [example; 2-(alpha-methoxyimino) ethylthiophene, etc.] is acetylated preferably in the presence of polyphosphoric acid using acetic anhydride, etc., as an acetylating agent to obtain a compound expressed by formula I wherein the group Z is acetyl group.
