PURPOSE:To eliminate the uncrosslinked layer and consequently to reduce the surface tackiness by method wherein electron rays are directed to thermoplastic high polymeric organic substance installed in water. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen-free state is very easily realized by installing thermoplastic high polymeric organic substance or a molded item made of thermoplastic high polymeric organic substance to be crosslinked. A crosslinked article, the surface of which is fully crosslinked, can be obtained by directing electron rays to the item under the above-mentioned state. Consequently, when sealing material such as O-ring or the like is manufactured by employing the above- mentioned method for crosslinking, the obtained sealing material has little surface tackiness and does not stick to a sealing surface. The above-mentioned method can aim at many thermoplastic high polymeric organic substance for the crosslinking of which the irradiation with electron rays is heretofore applied.
