PURPOSE:To easily perform the coloration and patterning of a metal foil for an industrial design over a wide range, by spraying a surface treatment agent to the surface of paper impregnated with a volatile liquid by an air brush in such a state that the metal foil is sucked to the surface of said paper. CONSTITUTION:Paper impregnated with a volatile liquid such as kerosene or perchloroethylene is arranged on a substrate comprising a smooth plate such as glass or a decorative board and a metal foil comprising gold, imitation gold, silver, baked silver, platinum or alumina is placed on the paper to be sucked and supported. In this state, a surface treatment agent such as an acrylic color, alkid resin paint or polyvinyl synthetic resin paint is sprayed to the surface of the metal foil by an air brush. Because the volatile liquid allowed to impregnated the paper is volatilized after the finish of surface treatment, the metal foil can be easily detached from the paper.
