PURPOSE:To enable continuous treatment with high washing effect, by allowing sand and washing water to flow to mutually reverse directions in a rotary cylindrical body having a spiral blade. CONSTITUTION:For example, three cylindrical bodies 1 are provided so as to communicate with each other, and the upper end part of each cylindrical body 1 and the lower end part of the adjacent cylindrical body 1 are mutually overlapped so as to be capable of performing automatic and continuous treatment. Water is continuously supplied to each cylindrical body 1 from the water supply port 9 provided to the fixed cylinder 4 of the upper end part of said cylindrical body 1 while each cylindrical body 1 is rotated and sand having mud adhered thereto is continuously supplied to the cylindrical body 1 from the sand supply port 5 provided to the fixed cylinder 3 of the lower end part thereof. Sand in the cylindrical body 1 is raised from water while successively moved to the direction shown by an arrow 12 along a spiral blade 2 and again charged in water. Said sand repeatedly receives this operation. Because water is flowing to the direction shown by an arrow 13 at this time, sand collides with water at the time of falling and is guided to the sand supply port 5 of the next stage cylinder 1 from a sand outlet 8 while the mud adhered to sand is removed.
