The invention relates to a process and a device for producing crystal seed magma. The device according to the invention comprises a crystalliser (1) with a downstream classifying centrifuge (11), in which the suspension leaving the crystalliser and cooled to about 22 DEG C is separated into two fractions. One fraction consists of syrup + fines which are heated in a heat exchanger and thereby dissolved, this solution free of fine grains being used, on the one hand, as a lubricating medium for the classifying centrifuge and also as a mashing medium for the coarse crystallised product (23) leaving the classifying centrifuge as the second fraction. The seeding of the highly concentrated sugar solution used as starting product is carried out with presuspended slurry.
