<p>Arrangement for the joining together of separate lengths of pipe (1a, 1b) to form pipelines. The arrangement comprises a male part (3a) having an externally conical section (9) with a diameter reducing towards the end of the length of pipe and a female part (3b) of internally matching shape to fit the male part (3a). The male and female parts (3a, 3b) are each executed with its own groove (4a, 4b) of generally rectangular cross-section running around their respective boundary surfaces. When the male part (3a) is introduced into a certain position inside the female part (3b), they will lie directly in line with one another and will form a channel (4). Arranged in the latter is a sealing ring (7) made of a flexible material and of square cross-section, the dimensions of which are selected so that the sealing ring (7) is in sealing contact against the bottom (12a, 12b) of the respective grooves (4a, 4b). A characteristic feature of the invention is that the male part (3a) exhibits a constant diameter in an area around the aforementioned groove (4a), that is to say between its tip (11) and the groove (4a) and between the latter (4a) and the conical section (9). The female part (3b) exhibits internally a corresponding area (10b) of constant diameter lying adjacent to the male part (3a). The aforementioned position denotes that the male part (3a) is introduced approximately half-way into the female part (3b). When the male part (3a) is introduced fully into the female part (3b), the remaining boundary surfaces (7a, 7b) of the sealing ring (7) come into contact with the inner boundary surfaces (4a' and 4b') of the grooves (4a, 4b).</p> |
