PURPOSE:To improve input maneuverability by writing a bar code for a machine control instruction in a bar code book together with input information such as character information and fixed item information. CONSTITUTION:A character information bar code part 1 is formed in the bar code book to write a bar code 2 for an English capital/'katakana' (square form of Japanese syllabary) specifying instruction, a bar code 3 for an English small letter/'kana' (Japanese syllabary) specifying instruction, a registering bar code 4, an erasing bar code 5, and a space input bar code 6. The information of 'ABC' can be inputted by successively scanning the bar code 2, the parts A-C of the character information bar code part 1 and the bar code 4 and the information of 'abc' can be inputted by successively scanning the bar code 3, the parts A-C of the bar code part (1) and the bar code 4.
