PURPOSE:To make device constitution simple and small in size and to output a light wave equivalently in an unpolarized state even when the transmission rate of an input signal is high by letting 2-(n) light emitting elements which have desired planes of polarization to emit light simultaneously and multiplexing all projection light beams by a multiplexing element. CONSTITUTION:The projection light beams 2a-2n from the 2-(n) light emitting elements 1a-1n are incident on waveguides 3a-3n on the input side of the multiplexing element, multiplexed so that their planes of polarization are different, and projected from a waveguide 4 on the output side of the multiplexer, and the projection light 5 is not polarized. Thus, an unpolarized light emitting device consists of the 2-(n) light emitting element and at least one multiplexing element, so the device constitution is made simple and small in size; and a branching device or optical modulator for an electric signal is added to enable use at the time of a high transmission rate.
