PURPOSE:To damp down a pulse sound effectively by providing a pulse-wave separating part between an inlet pipe and a sound absorbing pipe which are arranged in a straight-line form, and then preparing the sound absorbing pipe in such a manner that it is pierced with a large number of vent holes before it is covered with a soundproofing material, and then it is housed by an air-layer chamber. CONSTITUTION:An inlet pipe 11 and a sound absorbing pipe 12 are arranged in a straight-line form, and then, between the two is provided a pulse-wave separating part 13. The sound absorbing pipe 12 is pierced with a large number of vent holes 12a, and closed on its end side. The pulse-wave separating part 13 is constituted by connecting a circulating pipe 14 to the inlet pipe 11 in the direction of an acute angle, and one end of the circulating pipe 14 is con nected to an expansion chamber 18. The periphery of the vent holes 12a in the sound absorbing pipe 12 is covered with a sound absorbing material, and then, it is housed by an air-layer chamber 19. To the expansion chamber 18 is connected an outlet pipe 21. Thereby, a pulse wave can be damped down effectively, and the level of an exhaust sound can also be lowered.
